Health Impact Made By Swollen Gums

When gum infection takes it toll, gums are under attack. Gum infection is acquired when proper oral care is not observed increasing the risk of gingivitis, bleeding and swollen gums. Gums that appear red in color, tender and puffy are the primary indications that gums are under attack by gum infection. Gum infection is an inflammation of gums caused by harmful bacteria that forms into plaque causing inflammation- swollen gums.

Untreated swollen gums can lead into various impact on dental and medical health. Dental health impact includes its progression to periodontal disease that it can lead to eventual loss of tooth. Cardiovascular and respiratory diseases are some known impacts of advance periodontal diseases.

To avoid such negative impacts of swollen gums and gum disease, proper oral care should be observe and avoidance of its risk factors including smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Swollen gums should not be taken for granted, it is still necessary to see a dentist for proper diagnosis and professional treatment to control its progression.
